3 Days (6th to 8th October) North Zone Youth Festival 2022 of IKG PTU, Kapurthala opened at AGC, Amritsar Manawala. The inaugural ceremony took place in the Guru Ram Das Auditorium with an invocation to goddess Saraswati to seek her blessings. The Chief Guest Dr. Inderbir Singh Nijjer Cabinet Minister Local Government and Parliamentary Affairs, unveiled the opening of grand gala youth festival at AGC. Chairman Advocate Sh. Amit Sharma, Director Finance Ms. Ragini Sharma, Managing Director Dr. Rajnish Arora, Principal Dr. V. K. Banga, Registrar Dr. P.S. Pannu, Dean Academics Dr. Upain Bhatia, Dean Students’ Affairs S. Gurjeet Singh, and other elite dignitaries graced the occasion of the opening ceremony.
Around 498 students from 80 colleges of the North Zone Districts comprising of Amritsar, Gurdaspur, Jalandhar, Tarn Taran and Pathankot arrived the AGC Campus to participate in various events. On the opening day of the festival, a very active participation of students was witnessed in around 18 different events covering dances, musical items, plays, fine arts and literary Items at four venues. Addressing the gathering in the inaugural function Dr. Inderbir Singh Nijjer Cabinet Minister appreciated the huge event of Youth Festival to be shouldered by Amritsar Group of Colleges, Amritsar. He laurelled the Punjabi Culture for its rich heritage, energy, dances, folk songs, sports and tastes of life replete with good health.
He appreciated the services rendered by this institute in the fields of education, social service and cultural upliftment of the students for ‘Rangla Punjab’. Dr. Nijjer appreciated the initiative and farsightedness of Chairman Advocate Shri Amit Sharma to establish AGC in Amritsar to cater to the needs of the students of this region. Chairman Shri Amit Sharma remarked that the youth festivals play a pivotal role in grooming the youth and boosting socio-economic and cultural development of the country. Dr. Rajneesh Arora said that it is a great opportunity for learning and personal development of the students to develop their personality. Dr. V. K. Banga while speaking on the occasion said that the youth festivals aim to propagate the concept of national integration, spirit of communal harmony, brotherhood, courage and adventure amongst the youth by exhibiting their cultural prowess at a common platform. Dr. Banga expressed his gratitude towards Dr. Inderbir Singh Nijjer for his gracious presence.
