Amritsar Group of Colleges, Amritsar successfully organized and completed FDP (Faculty Development Programme) in association with Dr. B.R. Ambedkar NIT, Jalandhar on the much talked about subject ‘NON-CONVENTIONAL ENERGY RESOURCES’ from 22nd May, 2023 to 26th May, 2026. The major objective of this FDP was to talk in length about the non-conventional energy resources. Availability of these resources, development or environmental friendly utilization of technologies, the cost of energy and innovation in context to these resources remained the highlight of this workshop.
It was a good experiment that two giant institutes in the field of technical education took the initiative to use the common platform of AGC, Amritsar to spread awareness and share knowledge with the participants and experts in hybrid mode. More than 182 participants took advantage of this workshop. Principal Dr. V.K. Banga spoke about the prime importance of the resources. Dr. Banga said that Natural Resources like Wind, Tides, Solar, Biomass etc., generate energy which is known as “Non-conventional resources.
These are pollution free and hence we can use these to produce a clean form of energy without any wastage.” Dr. Rajneesh Arora, Managing Director, AGC spot-lighted the objectives of NEP-2020 in the opening session and advocated how it is important to keep the values intact even in the research, development and utilization of these resources to the all good of making in the society. KeyNote Speaker Dr. Mithlesh Kumar Jha, Prof. Higher Administrative Grade, Department of Chemical Engineering NIT Jalandhar shared his rich knowledge and expertise on the topic ‘ ENERGY TRANSITION FOR SUSTAINABILITY ROLE OF BIOFUEL,. Dr. Narinder Sharma Dean R & D AGC, Amritsar expressed gratitude to the experts, organizers and participants for the success of this FDP. The other eminent resource persons of the FDP include Dr. Sunanda Sinha, MNIT, Jaipur, Dr. Dhananjay Singh, IET, Lucknow, Dr. P.S. Pannu, Registrar, AGC, Dr. Vinay Kumar former Scientist and Head, Radiation Biology and Health Sciences Division, BARC Mumbai, Dr. Gurjeet Singh DSA, AGC, Dr. Namrata Kad, EE Department, AGC, Dr. O.P. Verma, NIT, Jalandhar, Er. Bimal Kumar, EE Department, AGC, Dr. Manish Kumar, UIT, Shimla (H.P) who have delivered their expert talks.
Chairman of AGC Senior Advocate Sh. Amit Sharma appreciated the initiative and collaborative effort of two prominent institutes of Punjab for this creative and fruitful venture. He advocated the need to spread more awareness so that the prospective threats to our environment can be tackled and we really are able to protect our environment for the generations to come. The Chairman Sh. Amit Sharma also assured that AGC, Amritsar will always take lead in these kinds of ventures for the overall good to the human society and conducive environment.
