Hostel Life

Amritsar Group of College hostels have consistently organized a wide range of cultural, religious, and community-based events throughout the academic sessions, reflecting the diverse backgrounds, traditions, and interests of students residing in the Boys’ and Girls’ Hostels.

The primary objective of these activities is to promote cultural harmony, national integration, mutual respect, emotional bonding, and a vibrant campus environment where students from different states and countries feel equally valued and included.

  • Celebration of Indian Cultural and Religious Festivals
  • Across various sessions, the hostels have conducted the following events to uphold Indian cultural unity and traditions:

    1. Holi Celebrations – with eco-friendly colors and cultural performances.
    2. Ram Navami pooja and prasad distribution.
    3. Id-ul-Fitr celebrations with students sharing cultural food and greetings.
    4. Chhath Pooja observance by students from Bihar, UP & Jharkhand communities.
    5. Saraswati Pooja by students before exam periods.
    6. Dussehra Celebrations for both Indian and Nepali students, including small-scale cultural displays.

    These events ensured that students from different religious and cultural backgrounds participated together and learned about each other’s traditions.

  • Events for International Students (Nepal & Others)
  • To support the multicultural hostel environment, special events were organized for international students, particularly those from Nepal, such as:

    1. Nepal New Year Celebrations
    2. Joint Dussehra Celebration of Indian & Nepali Students
    3. Cultural exchange interactions and food-sharing events

    These activities provided a platform for international students to maintain cultural continuity while engaging meaningfully with Indian students.

  • Recreational and Social Activities
  • To create a lively and engaging environment in the hostels, the following recreational and social programs were conducted:

    1. DJ Nights during official celebrations.
    2. Dandiya Night / Garba Evening promoting traditional Indian dance forms.
    3. Talent Hunt Competitions showcasing singing, dancing, and creative arts.
    4. Movie Screenings (motivational, patriotic, and entertainment genres) held in hostel common areas.
    5. Student Tours / Local Visits, including:
      1. Golden Temple (Sri Harmandir Sahib)
      2. Attari–Wagah Border Ceremony
      3. City heritage walk and local cultural sites

    These activities helped students relax, bond, and develop interpersonal and leadership skills.

  • Inclusive Hostel Environment
  • All events were organized with the involvement of:

    1. Hostel Wardens
    2. Student Representatives
    3. Cultural Committees
    4. International student volunteers

    This ensured equal participation, cultural sensitivity, and student-led leadership, aligning with institutional values of inclusiveness and holistic development.
